He is a former Oregon state champion wrestler, wrestled at Portland State University, holds a black belt in Brazilian jiu jitsu, coaches youth wrestling, and enjoys karaoke.

When can I go home after joint replacement surgery?

Many patients are able to go home the same day after surgery. Some patients may stay overnight depending on their medical history, risk factors, and individual recovery needs.

How soon will I be walking after surgery?

Most patients begin walking within a few hours after surgery using a walker. Many are also able to navigate stairs early in the recovery process.

When can I drive again?

In general, many patients return to driving around two weeks after left-sided surgery and around four weeks after right-sided surgery, depending on their recovery and individual circumstances.

How long does recovery take after hip or knee replacement?

Most patients begin to feel significant improvement around six to eight weeks after hip replacement and eight to twelve weeks after knee replacement. Recovery continues for up to a year, although much of the progress occurs during the first four months.
